Dr. Buzin brings 25 years of research and clinical diagnostics experience to MEDomics.

Prior to joining MEDomics, Dr. Buzin worked with Dr. Sommer at the City of Hope for 12 years. She was the Associate Director of the Clinical Molecular Diagnostic Laboratory at the City of Hope (COH) and has been involved in mutation analysis and research involving cancer syndromes, muscular dystrophy, ataxia-telangiectasia, hemophilia, and other inherited diseases. Prior to that, she was involved in molecular biology and molecular genetics research at the City of Hope Medical Center & Beckman Research Institute. Prior to the City of Hope, Dr. Buzin studied protein expression during Drosophila embryonic muscle and neuron differentiation in vitro, as well as the expression of heat shock proteins after treatment of the embryonic cells with teratogens. Dr. Buzin received her PhD in Biochemistry from the University of Texas, where she isolated and characterized enzymes of the endoplasmic reticulum involved in metabolism of secondary and tertiary amines, including a number of pharmaceutical drugs. She also studied mitochondrial biogenesis and protein synthesis in yeast and mammalian cell lines during postdoctoral fellowships at Monash University in Melbourne, Australia, and California Institute of Technology.
